The following is a list of wetland plants that we offer. Please inquire if a plant is not on the list because we may be growing it or can get it for you. We grow a full line of ornamental aquatics and pond plants which can be viewed on our other website Aqua-Link.com. We offer contract grow for any kind of job and can also grow out floating wetland sanctuaries and wetland carpet for your specific needs.

Please note: All plants sizes are plug (72s) & quart pot, except Pontederia cordata (pickerel rush) and Thalia dealbata (water canna) which are plug (50s) & quart pot.

star grass narrow leaves.
Dulichium arundinaceum OBL 18" - Flowers July, August with compact bamboo-like foliage.  Flowers
dwarf bamboo are unusual.
Equisetum hyemale FACW 3' - Very distinct jointed stems.  Prefers very shallow water to moist
horsetail soil.
Iris pseudacorous OBL 3' to 4' - Flowers April, May.  Billiant yellow blossoms that stand well above

Iris virginica OBL A southern Iris species with weeping, graceful foliage.  Deep purple

Juncus effusus FACW+ 3' to 4' - Often grows in tussocks or hummocks.  Clumping habit.

Justicia americana OBL 2' - Flowers August.  White flowers decorated with purple and resemble
water willow orchid flowers.  Narrow leaves like the willow.
Kostelekya virginica OBL 6' TO 9' - Flowers July to September.  Soft pink flowers with velvety leaves
seashore mallow Can handle brackish water.
Lobelia cardinalis FACW+ 2' - Flowers August to September.  Tall spikes of red flowers.  Striking
cardinal flower summer color for a long period.
Lobelia siphilitica FACW+ 3' - Flowers August to October with bright blue blooms.

Mimulus ringens OBL 2' - Flowers July, August.  Lavender flowers among soft green foliage.

Orontium aquaticum OBL 1' to 2' - Flowers April, May with unique white and gold flowers.  Tolerates

Pancium virgatum FAC 2' to 4' - Flowers July to September.  Ornamental particularly in winter.

Peltandra virginica OBL 2' to 3' - Glossy dark green arrow-shaped foliage.  Easy to grow, consis-

Pontederia cordata OBL 2' to 3' - Flowers June to September.  Bright lavender flowers.  Easy to
pickerel rush grow and long blooming.
Sagittaria lancifolia OBL 3' to 5' - Large lance shaped leaves that arch outward.  Single white 
flowers are attached to long arching stems.
Sagittaria latifolia OBL 2' - Flowers July, August.  Delicate white flowers with bright yellow
arrowhead centers.  Strong, wide arrow-shaped foliage.
Saururus cernuus OBL 1' to 3' - Flowers July.  Delicate cream colored blossoms.  Triangular 
lizard's tail green foliage.  Easy to grow.
Scirpus americanus OBL Flowers June to September.  Erect triangular stems.  Birds eat seed.

Scirpus cyperinus FACW+ 4' to 5' - Flowers August, September.  Dense clumps.  Persistent
woolgrass seed clusters.
Spartina patens FACW+ 1' to 3' - Good cover.  Shore erosion control.  Tolerates drought once
salt meadow hay established.
Thalia dealbata OBL 6' - Flowers July to September.  Rich purple flowers atop narrow spikes 
water canna above the foliage that sway gracefully in the breeze.
Typha angustifolia OBL 6' - Flowers May, June.  Narrow dark - blue-green leaves.  Tolerates
narrow-leaved cattail brackish water.

Wetland Indicator Status:  that, as designated in the National List of Plant Species That Occur in Wetlands:  Northeast (region 1) (Reed 1988);  is given in this catalog.

Obligate Wetland:  occur almost always (estimated probability>99%) under natural conditions in wetlands.  (OBL)

Facultative Wetland:  usually occur in wetlands (estimated probability 67% - 99%) but occasionally found in non-wetlands.  (FACW)

Facultative:  equally likely to occur in wetlands or non-wetlands (estimated probability 34% - 66%).  (FAC)

Faculative Upland:  usually occur in non-wetlands (estimated probability 67% - 99%), but occasionally found in wetland (estimated probability 1% - 33%).

Any Status above with a + or - sign after the abbreviation:  the species is more frequently (+) or less often (-) found in wetlands.  (FACW+, FACW-, etc.)
